Pieces of Greatness! Jewel's debut album, 'Pieces of You' is one of my all time favorite albus of all time. I love and respect this album very much. Jewel's voice is strong, sweet, sensual and sassy voice is powerful and present throughout the entire album. The title song, 'Pieces of You' is one of my favorite and probably most controversial song on the CD. It is so true, and wakes us all up to a new idea that we are all the same. My favorite song on the albums 'Foolish Games' displays Jewel at her very best. The piano is enchanting and her voice is astounding. This album is spectacular, magnificent and super! It is mostly folk with a hint of rock, a must buy for music lovers and artists with incredible talents!Decent, quiet start to an over-blown careerThis is a good folk/pop album; nothing wrong with it. It should have come and gone with Jewel never being heard from again; fifteen minutes over, end of story. Unfortunately it launched one of the most over-blown music careers ever. That's what's wrong with the music biz today; one hit gets you over-exposure for the rest of your career whether you deserve it or not (see also - Alanis Morissette, John Mayer, Britney Spears, etc...the list goes on and on). Maybe it's the media, not the music biz, that's to blame. Whatever. I just hope that the next "artist" Time magazine decides to put on it's cover has the talent to carry that high honor. Jewel, unfortunately for our ears, didn't/does not.Poetic, beautiful, and honest art.This is Jewel's best album. I love it. Who Will Save Your Soul, and Foolish Games are classics. And who could not love her song, Don't? This album is among my favorites, Jewel, Fiona Apple, Sara McLachlan, Corinna Fugate, Vanessa Carlton, Dido, Tori Amos, Portishead, and Leonhard Cohen. |
