Yet another great one in the seriesI've been picking up these in the "Compilations" section over the years, and have never stopped enjoying them.
I'm not sure why they are referred to "Dance Hits", because I was a New Waver back in the day and I don't recall too many being played at the clubs (can you imagine trying to groove to "Sunglasses at Night"?!), though many were ("Der Kommisar", "Tenderness" are STILL being played at numerous "Old Wave" clubs to this day).
The true gem in this one that you'll very likely not find anywhere else is "Anywhere With You" by Rubber Rodeo. Solid bass riff, melancholy guitars; a very good song that unfortunately got zero airplay. They were too busy playing Michael Jackson, I guess...!

Exception of Love by The Truth is a great discovery, as is The Colour Field's cover of Can't Get Enough Of You Baby. Some reviewers have singled out one song and dismissed the rest, and that's their loss. Variety means that there's something for everyone, and this disc is for those open to variety. |
