"ELECTRI"fying

First off, I have to say I 'grew up' on this album. I heard it first when I was still an impressionable teen and like a fine wine, it has aged well over time. Although I have always given props to The Cult in whatever incarnation they went through, this album, through and through, is just great. It's one of the most exciting, albeit mindless, rock albums you're likely to come across. You won't find any thought provoking lyrics or anything but Billy Duffy just drives it and Ian Astbury has never given more attitude to his vocals. If this is the only Cult album you bless your ears with, then turn on, turn up and enjoy.

The Cult's Best Studio CD

ELECTRIC is The Cult's best studio CD, with many great songs. Whereas its predecessor, LOVE, only reached the band's potential on "She Sells Sanctuary", ELECTRIC contains numerous modern metal gems, with only the ignominious cover of Steppenwolf's "Born To Be Wild" as a slack point. This version proves that Ian Astbury lacks all of John Kay's subtlety, and the rest of the band fails to grasp the original's nuances. Overall, however, this album is a superb example of post-hair, pre-grunge hard rock.

The only CULT album that mattered!

This is a rocker! Stealing riffs by the Stones sometimes sounding like 'Start me up' in so many ways! But with the driving guitar from the man, Billy Duffy and his sanded down Gibson Les Paul Custom! I saw them live and when they did cuts off this album, they were fawkin' great! This is a killer album! One of the best of the 80's!
