Not as good as the newer ones...I'm a big fan of Chevelle and after it getting this album I realize it definetly doesn't match up to their newer albums but its not bad either. It actually sounds like a totally different band. Most of the songs on this album you have to listen to several times to get used to them. But if your looking for a good Chevelle album "This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In)" is their best in my opinion. Anyway, here are my ratings for the songs... 1./2. Open/Point #1 4/5 3. Prove to You 4/5 4. Mia 2/5 5. Skeptic 2/5 6. Anticipation 2/5 7. Dos 3/5 8. Long 1/5 9. Blank Earth 2/5 10. Sma 5/5 11. Peer 2/5Too goodIf you are a Chevelle fan you are missing a lot if you dont own this disc. This album really shows the influence that Tool had on them and definately take it and run with it, I would say 2 of Chevelle's best songs are on this album, Point#1 and Mia (not taking anything from their newer stuff)They rock...I'm not your average listener (40 years old, and quite blatantly anti-religion) but it's impossible to deny the talent of this group. I recently 'discovered' so-called nu-metal, which I never make the mistake of comparing to old-school metal (apples and oranges, in my opinion). This isn't my favorite Chevelle CD, but is definitely a good beginning. Personally I don't care what religion the band is (Christian, Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish, whatever-ish) as long as they're talented, and they don't push their beliefs onto others. These guys are, and they don't. Check 'em out. |
