UnderdogI found my way to this album under the assumption that Jack Johnson was about to blow me away again with yet another dreamland experience packaged in a compact disc. I should have done my homework. Here is what I discovered: If you're the John Mayer, pop-culture hungry aficionado, then you might want to pass on this album. Not to discount Mayer and his fans, but this CD isn't songs of love and breathtaking vocals. Rather, it is an instrumental and experimental collection of sounds that is wonderfully mastered by the creativity of Jack Johnson. I'm not here to say the CD isn't worth buying. In fact, I highly suggest you do check it out even if you are the Mayer fan I referred to before. The first time you listen, you are going to wonder what the heck you just bought. But before long you are mysteriously addicted. Great stuff.Love It!I bought this CD about 3 months ago in a little music shop in the city, because of the surfing influence. Today in the car I put it in the CD player for the third time in a row. I really enjoy the different types of music, it dosn't get old like most "various artists" CD's I own. I have especially taken a liking to Jack Johnson, lovely guitar. Moving Towards Zen Very few cds that I know of are listening to. Even fewer CDs are worth listening to the whole way through, not this cd. This cd is a diamond in the rough. It blends with my soul, soothing out any wrinkles of anger and frustration that lay buried within me. Many people go for drives in their car to sort things out when they're stressed, I am not one of them. That is, I wasn't until I listened to this album. Every one of the songs, from the acoustic medley to the indian beat could be set on repeat for hours without bothering me. Under stress? Buy this cd, don't even look at the song names, just stick it in the player and go cruisin down a winding road, it will help, I guarantee it. |
