i love switchfootthis cd rocks!

seriously there is such a soft and welcoming sound to this cd.....and the lyrics actually mean something!!One of the best albums of the year - secular or Christian!I was frankly surprised when, considering buying this album, I listened to tracks here and read reviews and found out it was a Christian album. Although I am a Christian, I generally stay away from Christian music (except 3rd Day, Jeremy Camp, Jars of Clay), because the music is often overproduced garbage.
So, after listening to the tracks, I bought it. If you are an 80s fan, it has a lot of sounds you will recognize, but ultimately, the album is all Switchfoot. There are slow songs, hard driving songs, pop songs, and every one of them is great - really. I rarely leave comments for an album unless I think it is exceptional or lacking for a particular artist. However, this is a 10/10.
If you are a big Christian music fan, you should not buy this if you only like music that refers to Jesus or God often. It is clearly Christian, but it is not specific references. One of the reviews I read early on was by an atheist who says they are "positive" lyrics. He was absolutely right, but a knowledge of the New Testament will bring the songs more to life.
Definitely give it a try - you're bound to like most, if not all of the songs on this cd.GoodSwitchfoot is a VERY good band and The Beautiful Letdown is a good album. This said, let me suggest you get New Way to be Human or Learning to Breathe because these are actually their best works. |
