Eclectic New Orleans FunkWhat fun! I saw the Absolute Monster Gentlemen at the Santa Cruz Blues Festival and bought this CD on the spot. It captures what I heard and liked in the live performance perfectly, and adds a little more. New Orleans Funk is a good description, but I love how the latin piano sneaks in from time to time. "Agent OO Funk" is a rollicking funk number. Enjoy!Simply the bestThere isn't a finer live act around than Jon Cleary and the Absolute Monster Gentlemen, and, on Pin Your Skin, the full magic has been caught on record. I can't imagine that 2004 will provide a funkier, deeper, and more utterly satisfying album. |
