Makes you want to Dance!!I am a big fan of Assemblage 23. This CD is one of their best. Every song flows nicely with the next! If you're into bands like VNV Nation, Apop, Zeromancer and others then you'll love this cd. But...if you have a weak mind or heart then the song 30kt may not be for you. It's a freaking great song, but when I heard it I broke out in tears. Over all this CD is a must have for any industrial/EBM/techno/goth lover.Simply, the bestI think this album is as good as you can get in this genre, I couldn't ask for more. All of the songs on this album have a good purpose of its own, I think thats why its called Storm, each song is full of strength in its own way. My favorite tracks would be "Let The Wind Erase Me", "Ground", and "Complacent". For those of you who have worn this album out (only for now), i'd like to see if you've worn this genre out, from listening to this album (only for now). Weather Assemblage 23 has influences put into his music or not, Its good freakin' music, accept it... Praise to Tom ShearShirt, bald dome, and attitude all presentThis is the first Assemblage offering I've picked up, and I have seriously mixed feelings. After learning that Tom Shear got inspired by a Depeche Mode concert back in the late 80s, it started to make sense. Every single song on this album sounds like a remixed Depeche Mode song. All of them. Even echoes of Walking In My Shoes on You Haven't Earned It, which I assume is a response to Walking? Not sure. The vocal sound is consistent throughout, and it's not terribly dynamic--it's the same, flat, tone on the whole album. I don't know if he's trying to sound like Gahan or avoid it, but it's Depeche Mode-esque. The production is very good though, the electronics and beats are tight and a bit icy. But the overall feeling, I don't know. The songs sound heartfelt, so credit where credit is due. Still, if I wanna hear Depeche Mode...I'll listen to Depeche Mode. That said, You Haven't Earned It is one of the best tracks--it immediately opens with a blast of ye olde sequencers and synths you expect from this type of outfit. Don't know much else of Assemblage, aside from what I heard live, which kind of blended together while I watched yet another large, bald man with fancy facial hair and an 'industrial' black shirt work it out on stage. He seems into it, alright, and I'll give him credit for carrying on with his thing, but this didn't resonate any more than a lot of other outfits like this out there, whatever genre you want to call it. Perhaps 'Remixed 'Mode?' |
