A mezmerizing way to selloutThis has to be the worst album of their career. It is no way near the quality of Toxicity which I consider one of best albums. I don't understand people can call it the 'best' of S.o.a.D, because it is simply not! Apart from 'Cigaro' and 'Violent Pornography', all the songs have LOST the moshing effect of powerful riffs, destructive drumming and vocal consistency and originality. Speaking of vocals, they are lame, annoying and weak. B.Y.O.B has to be one of the most irritating commercialised song lately that trendies have started listening to. I'm absolutely disappointed because S.o.a.d is my favourite band. I hope their next album has something better to offer.
Revenge Of S.O.A.D.I'd have to agree with an earlier reviewer in that I really give this record 3 1/2 stars. Although it's obviously the first disc of two they'll release this year, this is a great record and I recommend anyone pick it up. It's a good introduction to System Of A Down yet continues their saga in album form. "B.Y.O.B." is a good rocker with a good hooking chorus that gets you thinking about the "robots" fighting in Iraq. The almost operatic tones of "Revenga" make it stand out as possibly the best track. "This Cocaine Makes Me Feel Like I'm On This Song" is a great anarchaic romp reminiscent of their first record. "Question" and "Sad Statue" continue the political thought, with "Old School Hollywood" and "Lost In Hollywood" end the album on a good but strange note. The last two tracks really don't belong with each other and the record overall doesn't have the flow of "Toxicity", their best record. Still, S.O.A.D. is one if not the best band out there and their new offering does not disappoint, making you want the next album even more. Even better, catch these guys live.evolutionalbum is defintely worth checking out, despite what elitist prog metal fanboys think. check out: -the Dillinger Escape Plan............Miss Machine -Meshuggah............................Catch 33 -Mastodon.............................Leviathan -Fredrik Thordendal...................Sol Niger Within
